About the Course:
The course content is designed to meet three objectives:
1. Ensure that participants understand the principles and requirements of USPAP.
2. Ensure participants understand USPAP in the context of current and common issues.
3. Ensure participants know how to use the USPAP publication to solve their day-to-day appraisal practice related problems.
To meet these objectives, the course will include a section that addresses fair housing and avoiding bias in an appraisal report. The course will also include case studies and is designed to help the appraiser better navigate and utilize the USPAP publication in their day-to-day practice.
About the Instructor:
Craig Steinley provides residential, commercial, and industrial real estate appraisal services in Rapid City, SD and throughout the entire Black Hills of South Dakota. He has been active in the local real estate market since 1979 and is an AQB-Certified USPAP Instructor. Craig is a State-Certified General Appraiser, a designated member of the Appraisal Institute, and approved by the FHA, VA, South Dakota Housing, and Rural Development. Craig is currently the Vice Chair of Region II of the Appraisal Institute covering eight states, an approved AI Developer/Instructor, and serves on its national Board of Directors through 2020. Additionally, he is the Immediate Past President of the Association of Appraiser Regulatory Officials (AARO), an approved AARO Developer/Instructor, and also serves on its national Board of Directors. Locally, he has twice been elected as the state-wide President of the Professional Appraisers Association of SD (PAASD) and is currently fulfilling another 3-year term as its Secretary-Treasurer. Craig is a USPAP Compliance Examiner for several states, including SD since 1999. He is currently serving as the Vice-President for the Appraisal Institute.
